Vitamin A is what is referred to as fat soluble type of vitamin, which means it can be carried throughout the body by fat, and also be stored in fat tissue within the body.

This storage within fat means that if you take in too much it can be stored resulting in a toxic level of vitamin A. The signs of vitamin A toxicity are as follows headaches, dry and scaly skin, liver damage, bone and joint pain, lack of appetite, abnormal bone growth and nerve damage.
It is important to remember that even though vitamin A is a vitamin it can still be toxic if taken improperly. So it is always recommended to consult your doctor before taking a vitamin A supplement.
